Also, you can visit Turkish Airlines website for flight info.
Students who would like to conduct their traineeship and reside in Turkey for more than 90 days must apply for Erasmus Internship visa before they arrive in Turkey. The initial entry visa (the red stamp on your visa page) will emphasize that you have 30 days after your arrival in Turkey to apply for the Residence Permit.
You can learn Republic of Turkey visa regime applied to your country of citizenship from Republic of Turkey Ministry of Foreign Affairs website: https://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa
You can also visit https://www.konsolosluk.gov.tr/VisaInfo/Index for further information.
You will be able to carry out all formal transactions as long as you stay in Turkey with your residence card and foreign identification (YU) number you receive after your application. If your residence card does not expire, it can be used while entering or leaving Turkey, and thus you do not need to get a new visa. It is important that you renew your residence permit before the validity period expires. You are exempt from residence application fee as a student, you are only required to pay the card fee.
One of the health insurance options below can be chosen:
- General Health Insurance (GSS) by Turkish Social Security Institution
- Social Security agreements between certain countries and Turkish Social Security Institution (https://www.csgb.gov.tr/digm-en/contents/foreign-relations/bilateral-agreements/social-security-agreements/)
- A private insurance company If you choose a private health insurance agency, you can make use of policies tailored for foreigners. There is a high possibility that the immigration office reject the health insurance policy you already purchased elsewhere even though it is clearly stated as a ‘world wide policy’ with full treatments and conditions. According to the current regulations the policy must be issued by a company which has office in Turkey and the policy should state ‘this health insurance is issued in accordance with the regulations announced by law act 10.5.2016 tarih ve 16/2016 published in Republic of Turkey. Generally, the cost of this health insurance policy varies between 40,00 to 100,00 Euros.
Keep in mind that the coverage of these policies is limited and is only valid in hospitals where the insurance company is contracted. Another option is General Health Insurance (GSS). This type of insurance, governed by the Social Security Institution of the Republic of Turkey, will give you the right to benefit from treatment in all state hospitals free of charge. In this way, you can get your prescription medications by paying a very low amount of contribution. The most important point to note with GSS is that you must make your application within three months following your university registration. KU Erasmus Office can assist students during their GSS application.
Incoming students and staff members can also use Eduroam on Kastamonu University campuses.
Erasmus+ promotes the participation of people with special needs in the programme. People whose physical, mental or health-related conditions are such that their participation in Erasmus+ would not be possible without extra financial support are potential participants.
Once an individual is found eligible to participate in the programme and receive inclusion support, the approximate additional costs will be determined. Subsequently, the participant can request additional grant support. The participant can request additional grant support during the term of the agreement, however, in any case, the application for such requests must be completed up to 60 days before the agreement’s expiration date. The participant cannot request additional grant support once the mobility period expires. The application form must include a statement explaining why the applicant needs inclusion support, and any relevant documents proving their condition must be attached to the form (For instance, if the applicant requests inclusion support due to their disability, they must attach a medical report (the report must be issued within 3 months before the application) which includes the information about the disability and the level of the disability, or a copy of their disability ID card. A medical report is also required for people with chronic diseases.). Additionally, the necessary documents (including that the receiving higher education institution is informed of the guest student/staff member is a participant with special needs and the institution’s undertaking that it has the necessary equipment to host the participant with special needs) must be attached to the form. The additional grant amounts and the grounds for such request must be explained in detail in the form as requested. The requested additional grant for inclusion support must be directly related to the purpose of enabling the applicant’s participation in the mobility.
Higher education institutions are responsible for ensuring the application forms are correct and complete. The necessary arrangements to meet the students’/staff members’ needs must be made by the receiving higher education institution. The National Agency will examine the additional grant application and decide whether to give the applicant an additional grant, and the amount of the additional grant. The final additional grant will be given to the participants eligible to receive inclusion support based on real costs. At the end of the mobility period, the receipts of the relevant expenses relating to the additional grant must be obtained and kept in the participant’s file for future reference. Undocumented expenses will not be deemed valid, even if they are charged against the students’ amount of grant specified in the agreement.
